In your venture to make money online, let us consider why you would write articles and how you would earn money online.

Branding, lead generation and as a corollary, to promote your site are the three reasons for which you would resort to writing articles to make money at home.

Getting article marketing to work for your site lies in two things:

The article you are submitting, and
The preparation you do before a single word of your content is written.

It is these two factors that spell at least 50% of the difference in bringing you success or failure in your home based business!

Of prime importance for you to note here is – there is only one reason to write an article, and that is to inform your audience.

So you need to be able to figure out how to get people to read what is in your article, and then click through to your site from your resource box.

Before you even begin to write a single word, you first need to decide what purpose the article is going to serve. An article meant to brand you as an expert should display your knowledge.

If you want your articles to work for you, you must write articles that publishers want in their publications.

You can be sure that not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically.

Of course this also implies you obeying the standard guidelines, running a spell check, or even hiring a writer to produce articles on your behalf.

Article marketing can help you generate additional links back to your site and grow your home business. You can also get more visitors and better search engine results from articles in a variety of ways.

You can do so by mentioning your desired keyword in strategic places, though you should take care not to overdo this.

So here’s how Article Marketing would work for you…

First, of course you need to write your article. When you have checked and double checked it, you will submit your articles to sites and ezines.

Your article then gets selected by some web sites and ezines or even newsletters.

The page at your site converts the prospect to a subscriber and gets a new page into the search engines that has dozens, (or hopefully hundreds) of sites linking back to the article. This is the page with the high-traffic, low-competition keyword, so the plan is that the combination of links and the content of the page will result in higher rankings. – If not, it’s performed its primary function, which is to convert readers of your article from other sites.

The prospect-turned-subscriber sees your sales page. (In my experience, this is often 33% – 66%) of people landing on the page. If only 3% convert to the sale immediately, that’s great. And if not, they are still a subscriber and you’ll have the chance to sell them that product, or one that they are interested in later.

And that’s how it works.
